Inside Cafe

133 Macquarie Street

An overcast and rainy day for the first Monday of winter... definitely a soup day. Inside Cafe serve great soups with sourdough. Butternut pumpkin and pinenut soup is on the menu today and it's a great choice... very satisfying! It was worth braving the weather outside to get to Inside (haha). I go back to this place because the food can be delicious, especially the soups, and the take-away menu offers good value. Service and quality could be a little more consistent but it's a great little place tucked away in this lovely and historical part of Sydney's CBD.

The Olive

Strand Arcade, Pitt St Mall

The Olive is a tiny little Italian take-away/sandwich shop located on the ground floor of the Strand Arcade. Lunches are delicious, consistent and good value. My personal favourite... meatballs and vegetables topped with a few slices of fried zucchini. This has been a regular item on my lunch menu for years. Be prepared to queue though...
